Looking for volunteer opportunities? Have you checked out our website lately? Our website at www.nerinc.org has a listing of some of the volunteer opportunities available at NER. Each category has some helpful information about the activity. Whether you can volunteer long-term or short-term, we have something for you. Please check us out. Once at the website, click on “get involved” and then “volunteer”. You will see our volunteer activities page. It includes such things as:
SPECIAL OLYMPICS
• Work with our Special Olympiads as an assistant or coach. Bowling, bocce ball, and track are offered.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Some training required.
ACTIVITY FRIEND
• Share your time and talents with one of our residents or an entire program. Bike riding, taking walks, playing games, doing crafts, and playing music are just some of the possibilities.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Some training required.
ADOPT A YARD
Show off your lawn and garden skills by adopting one of our homes’ yards. Plant flowers, trim bushes, rake leaves, etc., in this great family opportunity.
ACTIVITIES LEADER
• Run a weekly or monthly activity for a gathering of our residents. Activities such as bingo night, game night or a birthday club are just some ideas.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Some training required.
The site includes many more activities to suit almost any level of participation you desire. We’re always looking for new ideas that you may have too. So please check it out. You can sign up right at the website or give me a call. You can also just send me your e-mail address if you aren’t already on my e-mail notification for volunteers. When an opportunity comes up, I send out a notice to anyone who might be interested.
Great things are accomplished when people come together, and a helping hand is always welcome. Your time will make a positive difference in the community and in the lives of others.
