On September 8th, we held our employee picnic at Como Zoo. It did turn out to be a very nice event, despite the rain that closed Como Town. Fortunately we were able to still have lunch under the pavilion, and attendees could still go to the zoo and conservatory. Also, Como Town gave us vouchers for the attendees to be able to use later this year and even into next year. We enjoyed this space and will plan on having it again here next year during Direct Support Professionals week in September! Read More

Moving into Fall

iSeptember 05, 2019

This past month has been very active here at Northeast Residence. And going into fall, we continue to have a lot to plan for and to celebrate. It is so fun to know a lot of the people we support have been going to the State Fair, and many of them love this experience. We received a nice surprise that the State Fair donated 40 free tickets that we were able to distribute to the people we support. A number of trips are also being planned this fall, including Wisconsin Dells, Hinkley, Las Vegas, and a couple of trips to Duluth. For those that can afford to pay, they do. But we also raise money all year round to help in paying for people of less means, so they are able to go as well. It is great fun, and we encourage you to reach out to your own house if you know there is an interest in planning a trip. Thank you to our supporters for donating money and helping to make this happen. Read More

Career Growth and Investing in Employees at Northeast Residence

iMay 05, 2019

In this article, I want to focus on career growth and investing in employees. We all spend a lot of talking about and dealing with the staffing crisis that exists in the caregiving field. I have also talked about what we have done in the past and continue to do to recruit and retain employees at Northeast Residence, and I am willing to have that conversation any time. We will continue to work hard on strategies we are aware of and that we learn about to recruit and retain. Read More

iApril 05, 2019

This month I am choosing to publish this as an article in our newsletter, providing a copy to our employees at each site, and sending a copy of this to you in the mail. As you have likely experienced, staffing shortages have impacted the services that we deliver. This is a concern or yours and of ours. I would like to take this time to communicate what we are doing in response to this and to ask for your assistance. I respectfully ask that you take the time to read this communication and to consider what you are willing and able to act on the ideas I put forward toward the end of this communication. Read More

It Takes a Dedicated Team to Fulfill Our Mission

iOctober 05, 2018

At Northeast Residence, it takes a dedicated team to fulfill our mission. We have published this article once in our newsletter and once in our annual report. You may have also heard this in our new employee video if you are an employee that has gone through training in the last year. I am republishing this in the newsletter this month because as I was thinking about what to write about, this kept coming back to me. I have been out visiting our employees and the people we serve in our programs and I really want to say thank you and the following words demonstrate what I see, what I experience and what you see and what you experience. Sometimes a “thank you” is great to hear and sometimes I think there is so much more than thank you that needs to be said. In this article I hope you can see yourself and what I see when I see you and the support you provide. Read More
