Meet Our New Program Director

July 01, 2014

I would like to introduce myself to those who do not know me.  My name is Shari Newgard, and I have been hired as the Program Director. I have just recently started my new position.  I have been working in this field for 26 years and specifically for Northeast Residence, Inc. for 14 of those years, primarily as the Director of Human Resources.  I have been in several different roles within this field. I am a family member to someone with special needs, I am a legal representative, and I have worked many years in direct care and in management.  I worked weekend relief throughout my college years in Mankato; the perfect job for a college student!

I consider myself very lucky to work for such a great organization!  My time spent in human resources was very enjoyable. I liked “selling” NER to prospective employees and working with Supervisors and staff to bring all tasks back to how the work we do benefits the people we serve.  That came very easy as I truly believe NER is one of the best companies providing services.  As the Program Director, I will get to do those same things but on a much larger scale.

Corrine has been a wonderful mentor to me over the past 14 years.  As you all know, her position as the Administrator has been split into two full time positions:  the Executive Director and the Program Director.  Even though I am only stepping into part of her shoes, they are very big shoes to fill.  I will have much to learn, but we have an awesome and supportive team at NER and Corrine continues to be a great teacher and mentor.

I am very excited to work in this new capacity with and for the individuals we serve and their families, our staff, the Board of Directors, and all the other stake holders of NER.  Thank you for this opportunity.  I can be reached at the office 651-765-0217 ex. 17 and via email at snewgard@nerinc.org with any questions or concerns.  I will be seeing many of you at the luau later this month.  Enjoy your summer!
