Northeast Residence Advocacy Committee

February 01, 2016

It is a new year; it is going to be a great year.  As I mentioned in the last newsletter, the Northeast Residence Advocacy Committee will be hosting an informational session on January 28, 2016 from 6-8 pm to learn how you can support the people we serve, their families and the caregivers who provide services for them.

The final details have been sent to as many people as we have been able to reach through e-mail, word of mouth, and mail.  We hope you will join us.  This meeting is open to all friends of Northeast Residence (NER) including people served, families, guardians, staff and your guests.   While an RSVP is not necessary, we ask that you call the main office at 651-765-0217 so we have an idea of how many to expect at the meeting.  Coffee and cookies will be provided.  The final details are below.

This meeting will be held on January 28, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the NER Main Office located at 410 East Little Canada Road, Little Canada, Minnesota 55117.

We will be joined by Sean Burke, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid – Minnesota Disability Law Center.  Mr. Burke will talk about where Minnesota has been, where Minnesota is today and where Minnesota is going in regard to residential services.

Additional speakers will include an individual served by NER, a family member of an individual served by NER, and at least one staff member from NER.  These individuals will speak about what the services and supports mean to them and how they feel we can and do make a difference.

AGENDA:

*Welcome and Introductions – Heidi Holste, Executive Director and Ann Tulloch, Northeast Residence Board Member

*Sean Burke, Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid – Minnesota Disability Law Center

*Client, Family Member and Staff Member(s)

*Question and Answer Period

*Next Steps

In addition to this meeting, I encourage you to read this entire newsletter.  As always we highlight our new employees, employee anniversaries, training calendar, and position openings.  We will also have articles by Shari Newgard, Program Director, Joan Purrington, NER Board Chair, and Jessica Baker about fundraising and volunteers.

Thank you all for your commitment to Northeast Residence.  This is going to be a great year! As always, feel free to reach out to me at (651)765-0217 ext. 13 or hholste@nerinc.org

Heidi Holste, Executive Director
